Today is National S’mores Day! Namaste to the s’more. Praise to the marshmellow. Cheers to the chocolate. Gold star to the graham cracker.
“S’mores s’mores you had’em at camp.
Chocolate and grahams, you were a champ.
Burning the marshmellow till it fell of the stick
then eating them all….every last lick!”
What better excuse do you need to host a s’mores party, fire up the grill or campfire and make one of food’s best inventions? Summer and s’mores couldn’t be a more magical combination. Almost everyone associates eating s’mores with a fond summertime memory. Whether you were camping in sleeping bags and roasting marshmellows over an open campfire or roasting them some other tried and true way, chances are you have a very special way that you make them. S’mores have evolved over the years.
Foodies have experimented with adding peanut butter, nutella or other condiments to the infamous marshmellow sandwich, but the traditional old-school way to eat a s’more is with a good ole Hershey’s bar and graham crackers. The number of chocolate squares and marshmellows you put on your smore varies to taste, but it’s the “smoosh”ing of the crackers together that creates the trademark oozing of marshmellow and chocolate out of all four sides of the graham cracker which leads to sticky fingers, arms and faces and the inevitable bath before bed for most kids.
So let yourself take a deja vu to your childhood and enjoy some s’mores tonite for dessert….or better yet, for dinner! lol
