If you’re like me and you love wine you might do white wines in the summer and red wines in the winter. I never used to subscribe to that wine drinking rotation. I used to be a red wine girl all year long. But this year, maybe with the temperatures being so consistantly unbearably hot, I switched to white wine mostly for the chill of it. The thought of drinking room temperature anything when it’s 90 degrees out just doesn’t cut it.
I’m not a big fan of dry wines and I love moscato, but that’s often thought of as a dessert wine and thusly many places serve it but by the shot-full – same price of a glass of vino but for about half the pour. NYer translation: you’ll go broke keeping up with your friends. This is when I became a riesling girl. Riesling wine is fun and fruity, cool and quenchable. It’s the perfect vino paired with cheese and fruit. I’m not a wine snob so I’ll drink whatever wine I like with any food.
I just learned via twitter that there is a riesling wine festival this weekend, dang it though I’m busy and looks like you need a car to get there. I’ll have to put it on the calendar for next year. If you love riesling you may want to check it out.
If you or anyone you know loves to drink riesling wine, these I Drink Riesling t-shirts and gifts from our wine gifts collection of merchandise are fun treats.
